Combatants: British Troops and the Militia of Massachusetts
Generals: Colonel Smith, Major Pitcairne and Lord Percy commanded the British Troops. Paul Revere and William Dawes rode to warn the villages on the route to Concord and the Congress. Militia were commanded by Barrett, Buttrick, Robinson and many others.
Size of the armies: 1,800 British. American numbers unknown.

Uniforms, arms and equipment: The British were armed with muskets and bayonet. Some light guns were used. The American militia were armed muskets, blunderbusses and any weapons they could find.
Winner: The British suffered extensive loss. The Americans considered the contest an encouraging start to the war.

The battle of Lexington and Concord was fought on April 19th in 1775 the location was in Massachusetts. The British noticed that the Americans were preparing themselves with weapons for the large rebellion, so the British decided to stop the Americans from getting weapons to Lexington. Dr Joseph warren was trying to warn the other nationalists that the British were coming and the signals were that if there was a lantern on the church steeple they were coming by ground and if they Were 2 they were coming by sea, When the British reached Lexington Samuel Adams and John Hancock had already escaped.
